Restless home
Gigibori 1995
Gigibori was devised for the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust’s Brave New Works season and performed at the Space Theatre. Gigibori is an East Papuan word referring to the spiritual quality in a work of art. In this culture a work can only be raised to the status of art if it has this quality and this seemed to link to the energy generated by the Restless dancers with a disability whenever they are in their dancing space. Gigibori took the dancers with and without a disability - and their audiences – on a classic young people’s journey, travelling through rebellion and chaos to return to the security and stillness of home.
