Headlong 2001 & 2002

Headlong looked at leaving school, that rush into a major life change and a changing world where there's nothing familiar to hold on to. Headlong looked at how rites of passage, with their rituals and symbols, help this process of transition.

Headlong began as an in-school workshop project for senior students at the Ashford Annexe of Daws Road High School.

Headlong was first performed at the Queen's Theatre as part of the Come Out Festival in March 2001. Headlong was remounted in October 2002 at the Odeon Theatre in Norwood, Adelaide, with a presentation and promotion project wrapped around the production – A three part package was offered to local schools: (1) A team from Restless visited their school and gave a presentation about the work of the company. (2) The students went to see the production of Headlong. (3) A team from Restless – including young people with a disability – went back to their schools and conducted a workshop.
